PS5 1440p support, folders coming later this year

PS5 1440p support is finally coming to the console later this year, alongside additional support for folders — perfect for those who like to organize their game libraries.

First, the console will provide support for 1440p TVs and monitors, something offered on the Xbox Series S & X consoles since their launch.

“If the game you’re playing supports 1440p rendering you can experience native 1440p output on your display,” Sony said, “or, if you’re playing a game with a higher native resolution like 4K, then you may benefit from improved anti -aliasing through supersampling down to 1440p output.”

Highly organized players will also be able to take advantage of folders — or gamelists, in Sony speak. Players will be able to create up to 15 gamelists via the Your Collection tabs; 100 games can be inside each gamelist.

The features are available to beta testers today and are expected for all later in the year; they’re all detailed here.
